Join guest chefs & facilitators each week to learn new recipes and kitchen skills! The Cooking Series runs every other Thursday at 5 pm, so your creations will be ready just in time for dinner.

Ingredients lists and recipes will be shared ahead of each session.

September 24

Chef Sed launches our culinary series with a knife skills class and fish dinner prep. We’ll learn how to check for fish freshness and know appropriate cooking times.  After knife skills instruction, we’ll cut vegetables and filet salmon.  By the end of session, you’ll have mastered new skills and be ready to enjoy a healthy, delicious meal.

Chef Sed is a renowned, culinary coach, chef and mentor with decades of management experience.  In addition to working in well-known local restaurants and owning his own business, Sed has inspired aspiring cooks, chefs and celebrities to achieve success.

Join Main Street’s very own Director of Membership and Volunteers, Stacey as she shares one of her favorite dishes with us! We will be making Chicken with Mushrooms, Mustard & Tarragon. As we cook, Stacey will share some basic cooking tips and techniques.

Celebrate National Pasta Month with DC’s own Amy Riolo! Amy will prepare Spaghetti with Fresh Tuna and Fennel – a dish inspired by southern Italian regions of Calabria and Sicily, well known for fresh tuna. You are invited to cook along or watch for future preparation. We are thrilled to have Chef Riolo cook in Main Street’s kitchen. Amy is an award-winning, best-selling author, chef, television personality and educator. A graduate of Cornell University, she is a food historian, culinary anthropologist and Mediterranean Diet specialist. Amy has lectured across our country, led professional and recreational cooking classes and hosted culinary tours in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and the UAE.

Join Main Street volunteer, Sari, as she shares one of her favorite healthy recipes with us! We will be making Couscous Salad with Chicken. One of Sari’s favorite things about making salads is that you can always add or remove ingredients to your liking.
