Bestselling author Angie Kim is coming to Main Street! Join us on Tuesday, October 8 at 6:00 pm for a conversation between the author of Happiness Falls and Main Street’s own Camille Galli and Robert Gitterman, both nonspeakers. Angie’s book, which features a child with special needs who is nonverbal, was an instant New York Times bestseller and a GMA and Barnes & Noble book club pick. We’re all looking forward to learning about how Angie developed this story and taking a behind-the-scenes look at her writing process, beginning with questions posed by Camille and Robert.

We’re also thrilled to partner with Loyalty Bookstores for this special event! Loyalty will be joining us to sell Angie’s books, which she’ll be signing. To purchase a book in advance, please select the “Book Add-On” ticket option. The book cost is $20.

Don’t miss this great opportunity–and bring a friend!

About the Presenters

Angie Kim moved as a preteen from Seoul, South Korea, to Baltimore. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, she studied philosophy at Stanford University and attended Harvard Law School, where she was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Her debut novel, Miracle Creek, won the Edgar Award and was named one of the 100 best mysteries and thrillers of all time by Time. Happiness Falls, her second novel, was an instant New York Times bestseller, a GMA and Barnes & Noble book club pick, and was named the #1 novel of the year by Oprah Daily.

Camille Galli is a non-speaking woman who uses a keyboard to communicate. This has allowed her to form better relationships and pursue both academic and social goals. She enjoys photography, dancing, good food and the outdoors. She values neurodiversity and believes that it is an asset to humanity. Camille is looking forward to the discussion with Angie Kim and is hopeful that her novel, Happiness Falls, will help others in the spelling community.

I am Robert Gitterman. I am a member of Main Street Connect. I am also non-verbal. I work at the Fairmont Washington DC as a Talent and Culture Clerk and also at the John F. Kennedy Center as an usher. I am happy to be a part of this book talk in October. I am honored that Sharon Cichy was introduced to this book by Angie Kim about a non-verbal main character in the book. I also live in the town center area of Rockville. Something interesting about myself is that I enjoy musical theater so much that I collect playbills from all the shows that I have seen as keepsakes.
