PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR

The Programming Director (PD) at Main Street will work collaboratively as part of a team in a creative, empowering, fast-paced start-up environment. The PD will oversee all aspects of the program life cycle (including development, scheduling, promotion, delivery and evaluation) for the Main Street community center, which serves residents of the Main Street Apartments and adults of all abilities who join as members. The PD is responsible for the training and daily supervision of all program personnel (staff, partners, vendors, volunteers). The PD will encourage member participation and create a stimulating, fun and varied schedule of offerings to maximize member enjoyment, involvement and retention.

Responsibilities

Develops and Implements Programming

  • Creates, plans, organizes and implements workshops, series, clubs and special events that are conducive to the varied physical and intellectual abilities and interests of adult members. Programming will focus on the following categories: social/recreational, wellness, personal development, educational/cultural and community-based.
  • Develops, maintains and publishes a cohesive weekly, monthly and annual schedule of in-person and virtual programming
  • Researches appropriate resources and activities for the community at large
  • Involves members and staff in planning and implementing programs; manages special requests for programs from members
  • Develops art program including art shows and manages relationships with artists
  • Ensures that required personnel are available for all programs
  • Develops and manages the promotion, registration and communication around all programs
  • Responsible for ensuring that all program supplies, materials and spaces (including web-based platforms and in-person room setup) are available in advance of programs
  • Evaluates programming and tracks utilization, quality, impact and satisfaction
  • Analyzes data on a consistent basis to determine successes and areas of improvement
  • Reports program metrics and makes recommendations based on findings to management
  • Fine-tunes and/or modifies current programming based on evaluation findings

Oversees Program Personnel (Staff, Partners, Vendors, Volunteers)

  • Supervises, manages and trains Floor Navigators/Coordinators, partners and vendors
  • Involves volunteers in the implementation and delivery of programs and events
  • Hires, trains/on-boards and evaluates performance of all staff, partners and vendors
  • Creates teams of staff, partners, vendors and volunteers as appropriate to implement events and programs
  • Works with Executive Assistant and Director of Membership to organize volunteers for specific programming and events

Manages Supplies, Materials, Equipment and Spaces

  • Ensures that all supplies and equipment are purchased, inventoried, maintained and made available for programming
  • Works with and communicates efficiently with Hercules Living property management staff to ensure spaces are clean, organized and ready for programming

Oversees Programming Budget

  • Develops and monitors programming budget to ensure adherence

Other Duties

  • Maintains a safe and appropriate environment for programming
  • Maintains files and records relative to programming
  • Ensures Main Street policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, safety and emergency protocols are followed
  • Completes incident and accident reports as needed
  • Works as an active team member with Main Street management

Necessary Skills

  • Proficient in web-based video conferencing platforms such as Zoom
  • Problem-solving in a fast-paced environment; have the foresight to anticipate possible problems and plan accordingly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and maintain webpages and online calendar
  • Ability to successfully utilize a variety of technology tools used for event promotion and scheduling, surveys, managing photos and graphics, etc.
