In addition to our popular Main Stay programs that occur every week, Main Street offers unique featured and professional events that are always open to the public. Past events have included talks with local authors, a festival at a brewery, a presentation on digital accessibility, and conversations on how to create more equitable communities, guidance on starting a business, and comprehensive wellness program for people of all ablities.

Beating Stress Using Character Strengths

Character strengths are personality facets that make us who we are and are tied to mental health and wellbeing. Understanding and applying character strengths in times of stress can be a transformative approach to effectively managing challenging circumstances. This inspiring session was presented by Laryssa Kundanmal, an executive coach, consultant and trainer who uses the science of wellbeing to help create lasting behavior change. She has a coaching certification from Georgetown University and is a Gallup-certified Global Strength Coach. Laryssa also has an MBA from Emory University and a Master’s Degree in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from the University of Pennsylvania.

Extend Yoga Event for Invisible Disabilities Week

Extend Yoga aims to make yoga accessible and welcoming for all. As part of their efforts, they offer programs celebrating underrepresented and underserved communities: Repped. Join Repped and Main Street for a special community partnership and offering that goes beyond movement. In honor of Invisible Disabilities Week, this class offers a gentle space to explore meditation, mindfulness, and presence, reminding us that we never truly know what others are carrying beneath the surface.

The Ride Ahead Viewing

Main Street is thrilled to offer a screening of The Ride Ahead, a documentary film that follows Samuel Habib, a typical 21-year-old, itching to move out, start a career, and find love. But no one tells you how to be an adult, let alone an adult with a disability. This event will include a guided discussion exploring the films topics and beyond.
