We are thrilled to welcome Edward Ugo as our latest featured artist at Main Street! Join us for an in-depth look at the pieces of art in his exhibit at 5pm with wine and cheese to snack on. Activities in Poppy Boy’s Kitchen will follow at 6pm.
Edward Ugo is a contemporary artist specializing in Geometric Abstraction and Hard-edge painting. His work is created by the manipulation of geometric forms and abrupt transitions of color area. Edward’s true passion for color drives the narrative of his work. Edward studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and began his career in interior design. He is an artist by nature and until recently was focused on drawing. It was in retirement that he discovered his love for painting. Edward spends his days creating vibrant paintings and mixed media art in his studio. In the spirit of recycling, he uses leftover work materials to create animal sculptures. Edward was awarded a solo show at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia, and works on commissions for clients. He is passionate about supporting his community and has donated countless works to non-profit organizations including Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) and Art Connection in the Capital Region (ACCR). Edward’s works have also been featured in House Hunters on HGTV. Edward lives in Washington, DC with his wife, Molly. He enjoys spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and family when he is not painting.
