We are thrilled to welcome Denise Feldman as our latest featured artist at Main Street! Join us for an in-depth look at the pieces of art in her exhibit as well as a conversation about her inspirations and journey as an artist.
About the Artist:
Denise is a mixed media artist who leads journeys in healing through art, creates altered book art, and works with fabric, paper, words, found bits of nature and other materials to create unique pieces that tell a story. She is also a mother, wife and breast cancer survivor. Additionally, Denise is an all around wonderful person and storyteller. We are confident that the community will enjoy Denise and her work and learn about themselves in the process.
About the Art:
In her “Pockets of Hope” exhibit, Denise uses a 2-dimensional multi-media collage approach to share her optimistic perspective of hope in everyday moments. Using reimagined clothing and other pocket-like vessels, and a variety of mediums (including fabric, paper, paint, natural and found elements, words and poetry) each piece holds hand stitched and collaged expressions of hope as a reminder to herself and all of us that there are pockets of goodness if we simply take the time to pause and appreciate them. Each submitted work will be framed, but not covered with glass, as the ”pockets” are meant to be touched, opened and explored. With themes like “Grief and gratitude live side by side”, “Look for the lighthouse”, “Woven together” and “’Between us”, each piece is meant to share a message of hope and a symbol of love.
Information and FAQs:
- We will start the evening, 5:00 – 6:00 PM, in the Soulfull Cafe and lobby area for a presentation by the artist and viewing of the art.
- At 6:00 PM, we will move to Poppy Boy’s kitchen for dinner and fun! Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM following the artist’s presentation.
- Registration for dinner closes at 12:00 PM on the day of the event! We are thrilled to offer dinner from Gregorio’s. The dinner will be pizza with salad and breadsticks. There is also the option for gluten free.
- This is an in-person event only.
